The opportunity
Our Canada BU Innovation & Business Enablement team is evolving to meet the needs of our growing business and we are expanding our presence in Calgary to support ongoing project delivery efforts.
We are seeking a forward-thinking Senior Applications Developer who wants to deliver business outcomes, challenge the norms, and raise the bar. Our ideal candidate has knowledge and experience in Cloud Native development and innovation, additionally any experience in SCADA and Oil & Gas would be a bonus. This role is a mix of strong development practices with a focus on data science, machine learning and model building.
As a senior developer on our product teams, you will guide technology decisions, provide strategic direction, mentor fellow developers and drive a culture of continuous improvement, innovation and fun.
What you’ll do
- Be part of an amazing team of unleashed builders who love what they do
- Work on cutting edge innovation projects using cloud native technologies, advanced analytics, AI & Machine Learning
- Contribute within an agile delivery team, work with Solution Architects to conceptualize solution components and produce design artifacts
- Contribute to development efforts within assigned projects
- Collaborate within our developer community to provide advocacy for learned patterns, standards and approaches
Minimum Qualifications
- Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics or another quantitative field
- Minimum 6 years of relevant industry experience
- History of enterprise delivery in an agile environment
- Proven track record within traditional and cloud native application stacks
- AWS cloud experience including greenfield development, re-platforming, and lift and shift
- Progressive experience in advanced analytics or a quantitative field
- A deep understanding of predictive modeling and statistical concepts, machine learning approaches, clustering and classification techniques, and recommendation and optimization algorithms
- Languages: Shell scripting, C#, .NET, .NET Core, Java/Python (or experience with other languages with the capacity to quickly ramp up)
- Database and other data storage technologies
- Test Automation, and Test-Driven Development principles
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code/Build, Deploy, System automation
- Solid Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) skills, able to write clean, well factored code based on S.O.L.I.D. principles
- Be able to have fun while working
- Have the ability to work both independently and within a team environment
- Demonstrate strong focus on delivering value for stakeholders
- Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrate ability to mentor, coach and lead small technical teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Specialization in machine learning, data science or other advanced analytics space
- AWS Cloud Certifications
- Machine Learning, condition-based monitoring, and/or predictive maintenance experience
- Big Data & Frameworks (i.e. Hadoop, Spark, Glue, Warehousing, Data Lakes)
- Python Data Science Libraries (i.e. Numpy/Pandas)
- AWS AI services experience
- OSISoft experience
- SCADA experience
- ITIL (IT Infrastructure Library) process experience
