Job title: Senior Business Analyst – Data Platform & Business Architecture

Job description: What is the opportunity?

You will be collaborating with a team of business analysts, architects and data engineers within Corporate System Data Services (CSDS). You will function as a central facilitator for numerous consumers. Your work will be centred on existing and advancing data platforms, such as the enterprise data lake, and the associated data controls. You will be working with business stakeholders to solicit their data requirements and provide guidance on enterprise-supported solution options. You will support delivery and quality engineering teams to re-engineer existing business rules and test and implement enhancements.

Your success will result in greater self-service capabilities, lower technical debt, and a responsive, resilient and elastic platform delivering data-as-a-service.

What will you do?

  • Develop a complete understanding of current state architecture and business processes.
  • Understand business needs and apply architectural and industrial engineering concepts to design analytic solutions to address non-functional requirements such as scalability, extensibility, availability and future-proofing.
  • Conduct business and data analysis in support of various application and projects requirements. Elicit and document business requirements, business rules and data sources.
  • Works closely with delivery teams, product owners and technical platform teams to define and design high-quality solutions supporting business capabilities.
  • Optimize, refactor, and or re-engineer business processes. Identify opportunities for business process improvements, propose options for improvements and facilitate implementation. Seek out industry trends and organization knowledge to understand alternative approaches and solutions.
  • Conduct thorough data analysis of data sources; analysis supporting process changes; development of data specifications.
  • Lead the team to recommend solutions that satisfy sponsor and stakeholder needs. Socialize solutions to build corroborative support. Continuously explore and assess value-add options and provide timely responses to sponsor requests.
  • Groom to be a business subject matter expert resource, supporting the development of application roadmap and effectively communicate and build rapport with business sponsors and stakeholders.
  • Reports to the Lead Business Architect.

What do you need to succeed?

Must have:

  • University degree in business or information systems or equivalent experience or combination thereof (required).
  • Strong technical knowledge with exposure to data engineering-oriented programming languages, data pipelines, and tools such as SQL, Python (pandas), R, SAS, Tableau, ELK.
  • Experience with data governance including data discovery and profiling, data lineage, data curation, data quality, and metadata repository.
  • Experience working in a highly collaborative and customer-centric environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, presentation skills and high emotional intelligence.
  • Experience with data management platforms (Oracle, Teradata) and ability to provide a holistic view of the platforms (Data, Analytics, Reporting).
  • Deep understanding of the System Development Lifecycle and various delivery methodologies, including waterfall, agile and hybrid approaches (PMBOK, SCRUM).

Nice to have:

  • Knowledge of Collibra.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification at the Yellow Belt or Green Belt level.
  • Previous working experience or understanding of business capability models, related frameworks such as TOGAF and tooling such as Orbus and Planview.
  • Experience or knowledge with industry Business Process Management (BPM) platforms such as Pega and Camunda.
  • Business Analysis certification and or completion of BA training courses.
  • Expertise with Confluence and JIRA.
