Position summary:

The Senior Financial Analyst (SFA) – Brand Finance will be a key contributor to execute ConAgra’s strategy for growth and margin improvement. The SFA will partner with the Brand organization to provide financial guidance and analytics to support key decisions, drive growth and ensure financial objectives are achieved. The SFA will be the key contact for all Financial Planning and Analysis for their Brand team. This includes understanding all financial aspects of the P&L, periodic reporting of financial results, forecasts, the annual planning process, variance analysis, data consolidation and special projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform monthly/quarterly financial review (actual results vs plan and prior year). Take a proactive role in understanding key financial components in the P&L and be able to explain key drivers for material changes in the financial results.
  • Prepare and present monthly financial review and analysis to the Brand teams and the Finance group. Draw insights and make recommendations to business partners on opportunities for improvement.
  • Take ownership of identified incremental risks and opportunities (versus the forecast/plan) and support Brand team in efforts to close any gaps to plan.
  • Provide Brand team proactive and value-added financial analysis followed up with sound recommendations to drive profitable business decisions and maximize growth and margin improvement.
  • Key role in the new product commercialization process. Develop accurate P&Ls, make recommendations and challenge (where necessary). Ensure innovation is financially sound, aligned to strategy and will maximize growth and profit.
  • Creation of a robust Annual Plan with well documented and executable underlying assumptions. Ensure assumptions on volume, pricing, trade, marketing spend and cost of goods sold are well understood, accurate and documented.
  • Advertising & Promotion budget review with Brand team the Forecast and Annual Plan.
  • Develop and maintain analytical tools, modeling, and processes to support a deeper level of analysis to achieve targeted financial results.
  • Develop relationships with cross-functional partners and key central services groups
  • Provide formal and informal training on financial concepts and systems to team members.
  • Other special projects and ad hoc reporting as required.

Qualifications, Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting. Designated Accountant (CPA) preferred.
  • 5+ years financial analysis experience, preferably in the food industry.
  • Experience with SAP/BW/BI/BPC or other multi-dimensional database tools is desired.
  • Exceptional PC skills required (spreadsheet, database management, power point, word processing, etc.)
  • Solid interpersonal, organizational and financial skills
  • Solid work ethic with a high level of energy who can take a “roll-up-the-sleeves” approach.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with upper level management.
  • Proven ability to self-motivate in a fast paced environment, ability to deal with ambiguity, change and a dynamic business environment.
  • Background and experience in P&L management, along with knowledge of financial systems and general accounting concepts.
  • Proven ability to develop strong relationships and partnerships with internal customers, peers and effectively manage those relationships.
  • Experience effectively working across multiple departments to complete a project or resolve an organizational challenge.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc).
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills, including leveraging analytics, benchmarking, and insights to generate meaningful strategies and solutions.
