Job Description:
This role within the SLC IT team will collaborate to deliver innovative solutions for SLC Management initiatives. The successful candidate will specialize in the planning, management and implementation of complex application projects to meet business partner needs in the Front / Middle / Back Office, Distribution, Finance, Risk and Controls teams. Leadership and excellent communication skills will be essential to successful deliver in the rapidly changing organization.

What will you do?

  • Strengthen relationships with clients, building trust, inspiring confidence and earning respect.
  • Plans and executes projects with a high level of complexity and uncertainty including managing project scope, requirement changes and priorities
  • Applies critical thinking to proactively identify project risks and issues using appropriate fact-based metrics/assumptions and develop strategies to mitigate from the outset
  • Manages all project communications including steering committee presentations, status reports to executives, stakeholders, business units, vendors, project team, etc.
  • Ensures timely engagement with relevant groups, e.g. security, compliance, finance, privacy, sourcing, as required by implications of the change being introduced by the project
  • Ensures change management plans are developed, socialized and consistently measured to deliver the expected project benefits and adoption.
  • Promotes innovative or improved methods to get the work done while leveraging best practices to complying with applicable enterprise standards
  • Collaborate with business partners, executives, and technical project teams to deliver quality solutions to business client’s satisfaction.
  • Manage vendors to ensure alignment of project plans, timely delivery and quality of work

What do you need to succeed?

  • 7+ years’ experience as a project manager, with experience implementing enterprise applications and SaaS integrations
  • 3+ years of experience in leading teams, setting objectives and driving results
  • 2+ years of experience in implementing data warehousing solutions preferences in Markit EDM
  • Demonstrates ownership and personal sense of urgency for solving problems, getting work done and instills the same in the project team.
  • Evidence of effective and efficient delivery in a virtual, multi-site environment.
  • Experience leveraging multiple project delivery methodologies including Agile, Scrum, Iterative and Waterfall.
  • Great leadership, collaboration, communication and team skills to effectively manage work in a matrix organization
  • Ability to work with ambiguity and help project team members work with ambiguity

Preferred:

  • Project management or functional experience solutions within Investments, Asset Management and Capital Markets
  • Project Management Certification (such as Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) Institute, Agile Certification)

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
