Job title: Senior Sales Representative Hybrid role

Job description: Our client is a food broker specializing in fresh produce. This newly created position is for a key account manager who will also have the task of managing a junior sales rep and growing the team. You will have a hybrid role as you will be responsible for managing 60-70 accounts, many of which are chain stores. The person we seek has experience selling food, particularly produce to chain stores. Your role will be to grow our business within these accounts and find new accounts to complete our client list. You have an in-depth understanding of how chain stores work, you are hands-on and will also manage the “street” business as well. You have experience where you have touched pricing, inventory management and making presentations to senior management. Please note that the work hours are from 7 am until 4 pm.

Territory: Quebec and Ontario

Salary: Base $80,000-$90,000

Commissions/Bonus: To be determined

Car allowance: Km reimbursement

Expense’s reimbursement: All expenses reimbursed

Job Function:

-Manage a set of customers assigned to you
-Set performance goals for you and your team
-Assign KPIs, goals and sales targets
-Forecast sales based on several data points such as pricing, inventory, shipment etc
-Assess processes
-Proactively visit and call on client base
-Cross and upsell customers
-Make presentations to senior management
-Manage inventory by making strategic selling decisions
-Work hand in hand with buying group
-Keep an eye on commodity prices
-Lead pricing discussions
-Adjust pricing as per the market
-Implements sales programs and monitors success
-Recruit, hire and train salespeople

Job Requirement:

Development vs Maintenance: 50% vs 50%

Road vs Office: 20% vs 80%

Languages: French and English

Education: Bachelor’s degree is an asset

Training: On the job

Overnight Travel: Less than 15% overnight travel

Years of experience: At least 5 years of similar experience needed

Other requirements:

-Must have experience selling produce to major chains
-Will require some after-hours customer communications

Transferable Knowledge:

-Proven track record of success
-Knowledge of SAP and asset

Requirements

  • Essential – Excellent spoken and written English and French
  • Essential – 3-5 years experience in a similar role
  • Essential – Excellent negotiation skills

Knowledge and abilities

  • Essential – Knowledge of the food market
  • Important – Knowledge of SAP
