Course Description:
This course is designed to give the student an understanding of the more complex issues of federal income taxation, by applying current tax law to practical problems and cases. Topics include: computation of corporate taxes, corporate distributions, corporate re-organizations, partnerships, trusts, and individual and corporate tax planning.

Qualification:
Minimum qualifications: Ph.D. or Ph.D. candidacy in a relevant area. Preferred qualifications (in addition to minimum): Academic record of recent industrial organization research. Previous experience in teaching a similar course at the undergraduate (university) level. Previous experience using pedagogical practices that promote active learning at the undergraduate (university) level.
Duties:
All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and exams; calculation and submission of grades, holding regular office hours and maintaining reasonable availability for student and administrative contact, supervision of T.A. assigned to course.

Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II or Sessional Lecturer III in accordance with Article 14:12.
In considering qualified applicants, teaching excellence, currency in and mastery of subject area; previous experience in teaching a similar course at undergraduate (university) level or similar environment; several years related professional experience shall be the criteria used in the selection of the most qualified candidate in accordance with Article 14:12.

Classes will be in-person and run as follows:
January 9, 2023, to April 10, 2023.

April 13, 2023, to April 27, 2023.
Note: All positions involve the completion of all course grading. You must be available throughout the exam period as exams are scheduled centrally and individual preferences for exam times/dates cannot always be accommodated.
Salary: The Sessional Lecturer I rate of pay will be $8,489.66 for a half course inclusive of vacation pay. Sessional Lecturer I-Long Term $8,869.25 for a half course inclusive of vacation pay. Sessional Lecturer II rate of pay will be $9,085.57 for a half course inclusive of vacation pay. Sessional Lecturer III rate of pay will be $9,301.89 for a half course inclusive of vacation pay.
