What You’ll Be Doing

Commercial Banking and Wealth Management works in close collaboration with CIBC’s Personal and Small Business and Capital Markets strategic business units to lead and manage the organic growth, client retention and profitability of CIBC’s businesses. Commercial Banking in Canada includes the development and implementation of a strategic plan that effectively integrates the diverse activities of Commercial Banking including delivery network, specialized industries, business solutions, segment strategy, deposits and lending practices as well as across all functional responsibilities.

Wealth Management business in Canada includes Asset Management, Wood Gundy and Private Wealth Management, which is focused on providing excellence in relationship-based advice, service and product solutions that meet the needs of CIBC’s high-net-worth private wealth individuals and institutional clients

As part of the Private Wealth Management National Office group, The Business Intelligence team focuses on providing detailed insights into the performance of the business to help enhance the client experience and drive asset and revenue growth

The Senior Manager will be in a dynamic position of being responsible for the coordination, communication, generation, and distribution of high priority dashboards and various business intelligence reporting to key Private Wealth Management stakeholders. This role is responsible for providing a high level of service to internal clients through effective consulting with the multiple stakeholder groups and Private Wealth Management head office.

How You’ll Succeed

  • Business Intelligence – Work with key stakeholders to manage timely production of reporting and business performance reporting in addition to investigation of issues impeding progress. Lead the delivery of performance dashboards and reporting tools that go beyond the numbers to provide business insights to help influence decision. Research specific trends and distil key insights for use in PWM Leadership strategy discussions. Build presentations and business cases to support strategic initiatives linked to organizational goals and clearly communicate key findings from analytical research. Lead work packages and/or deliverables on strategic initiatives, including coordination and alignment with Wealth Management Lines of Business (LOB). Support employee engagement innovation initiatives across Wealth Management and being a positive role model to champion innovation across the organization. This role has the authority to recommend changes to business strategy, processes and systems to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Collaborate – Liaise with Finance to define Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Produce summaries of progress for discussion with the PWM Leadership Team. Liaise with Strategy & Corporate Development to highlight key activities for CIBC Board of Director and Town Hall presentations. This role interacts on a regular basis with Private Wealth Management LOBs (primarily management) for the purposes of obtaining and clarifying progress against strategic initiatives. You will interact on a regular basis Finance and Insights & Analytics for the purposes of obtaining business datasets. This job interacts on a semi-regular basis with Corporate Development and Strategy for the purposes of Board of Director presentations and strategic analysis. This job requires the Sr. Manager to be part of internal committees and enterprise project teams.
  • Business Effectiveness– Uncover and identify opportunities to improve the client experience and business effectiveness by leveraging statistical approaches against multiple sources of data. Manage, prioritize, and respond to ad-hoc requests. Research specific innovation opportunities and identifying high-level applications relevant to the Wealth Management business.

Who You Are

  • You can demonstrate experience in. You a minimum of 5+ years of work experience in the Financial Services industry, and/or other analytical-related functions. Proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel and other MS Office tools. Demonstrated project management experience: plan, prioritize and organize work effectively, to meet deadlines, while managing competing priorities.
  • You have a degree or diploma in. Post-Secondary education in Mathematics, Business, Computer Science, Statistics, Actuarial Science.
  • You give meaning to data. A strong passion for data, charts, analysis, trends, and evangelizing data usage. You have demonstrated proficiency in working with large datasets: both structured and unstructured data, using macros, VBA, or programming language such as SAS, SQL or related.
  • You understand that success is in the details. You can synthesize information quickly and accurately and apply concepts based on understanding of financial markets and key Private Wealth Management services. You draw insights and note significant changes based on strong attention to detail.
  • You communication skills make an impact. You have excellent communication and influencing skills. You convey factual and conceptual information requiring detailed explanation and interpretation through presentations at an executive level Strong interpersonal skills: build and maintain effective working relationships with internal groups, other business units and internal partners within CIBC.
