The Position

We’re on the hunt for an Junior/Intermediate/Electrical/ Sr. Designer to join our Robotics & Space Operations team at our Brampton office.

With 40 years of operational experience and proven performance on the iconic Canadarm programs including Space Shuttle and International Space Station robotics and operations support, our Robotics & Space Operations team has 100% mission success in making space dreams come true.

As a member of the Engineering Team as an Electrical Designer, you will work in the Logistics & Sustaining Engineering (L&SE) program (to support On-Orbit Space Station activities), and/or Gateway External Robotics System, and/or planetary/lunar rovers, and/or R&D activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare electrical designs for avionics chassis, circuit card assemblies (CCA), printed circuit boards (PCB) and cable harness designs for space and terrestrial applications
  • Understand the client’s requirements
  • Suggest new designs that meet the requirements
  • Design cable mechanisms for rotary interfaces
  • Perform cable routing and 3D modelling
  • Integrate the designs taken from electrical engineering, materials, thermal and structural analysis in 3D models
  • Perform design related activities for avionics chassis designs with considerations for EMI/EMC, thermal, structural and mass and volume constraints
  • Develop production, assembly and parts list drawings
  • Develop standard manuals, processes and templates
  • Experience with NX/Teamcenter, AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, MS Visio, Altium and ORCAD is an asset

ASSETS * Knowledge of geometrical tolerancing, drawing standards

  • Knowledge of space sector

Requirements:

Interested candidates with a Bachelor degree in Electrical, Aerospace, Engineering or Physics/Applied Mathematics or Engineering Science is an asset. Candidates with a Technologist diploma may also apply. Candidates will be considered for the Junior, Intermediate and/or Designer levels based on their years of experience.

The candidate must have demonstrated the ability to work in a team environment.
