The successful candidate will be a vital resource to the OMERS Investment Finance team, primarily focusing on Investment Reporting, System Migration and Financial Analysis. Candidates must demonstrate an ability to learn new tools and processes, as well as handle multiple tasks, often working within tight deadlines. This is an excellent opportunity to enhance basic professional skills, strengthen business acumen, develop an understanding of investment reporting, portfolio analytics as well as exposure to the private equity / growth equity / venture capital investing environments.
As a member of this team, you will be responsible for:
- Assist with the preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations as part of the financial reporting process;
- Assist with cash forecasting and accounts payable activities;
- Assist with the preparation of performance calculations, schedules and reports requested by senior management, Investment Operations and Corporate Financial Reporting;
- Review and perform variance analysis on financial data;
- Assist with the preparation of regulatory reports including reports;
- Assist in accounting research and finance issues as assigned and providing summary reports;
- Assist with the development and implementation of budgets and forecasts;
- Assist with the investment accounting system implementation project;
- Prepare year-end financial statements for tax and corporate filing purposes;
- Assist with tax filings when required; and
- Participate in special projects or duties, as required
To succeed in this role, you have:
- Working towards a business degree in Accounting or Finance;
- General knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (i.e. IFRS, ASPE and Pension Accounting);
- Investment Accounting experience is an asset;
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (intermediate to advanced level);
- Excellent analytical, quantitative and problem-solving skills;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills;
- A strong team player able to operate in a fast-paced environment with numerous priorities and deadlines with effective organization time management skills; and
