Reporting to the Manager, Northland Utilities, this position is responsible for the provision of administrative services to Northland Utilities customers, including accounting, billing, and revenue collection.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides support for the Manager in business, regulatory and customer service activities of the company
  • Monitors, collects, and reconciles all revenue through sales and invoices
  • Maintains filing systems, company records, computer systems and office equipment
  • Develops and implements internal policies and procedures
  • Leads, directs, and supports clerical staff to ensure that all customer needs are met in keeping with the company’s service excellence objectives
  • Resolves customer problems and concerns in area related to energy management and public safety
  • Maintain partnerships with local business and enhances customer service programs
  • Monitors and investigates financial transactions on the CIS billing system
  • Assists with the development and preparation and monitoring of business plans
  • Supports company regulatory activities; GRA, PUB and Board of Directors
  • Identifies, develops, and implements recruitment strategies, interviews and hires staff as required
  • Develops measurable objectives and assesses performance of individuals with semi-annual reviews against their objectives
  • Provides coaching to employees to help them achieve their objectives
  • Develops training and development plans for staff
  • Supports the Accounts Payable/Receivable function
  • Manages all customer accounts and services for NUY and NWT
  • Leads and directs community relations, media interactions and donations
  • Supports community functions and volunteers in various committees and organizations
  • Maintains excellent relations with community organizations and customers

Qualifications:

  • University degree, technical or college diploma in Business Administration
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in administration and customer service with previous experience in a supervisory role
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered
  • Excellent organizational, administration, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision-making ability
  • Knowledge and experience with accounting practices, principles, and budgetary processes
  • Strong leadership skills to effectively manage a team environment
  • Commitment to delivering superior customer service
