Job title: Technology Development Specialist = R&D
Job description: Do you thrive doing crop research but need that human touch as well?! Our client is a world leader in the development and sales of crop health products – offering solutions for the unique growing challenges experienced by regional broad-acre producers. Their objective is to develop innovative solutions to increase the productivity of plants. They now seek to add a new and incremental Technology Development Specialist role to perform, supervise, and execute field-level research associated with yield-enhancing solutions.
What would you be doing? Reporting to the Research Director, you will:
- Design, implement, and oversee field-level research trials
- Relay generated data to create useable information for the sales team
- Travel frequently within your assigned region
- Work closely with the field sales team within western Canada
- Build relationships with key stakeholders in your region; knowing current market trends and opportunities
- Build a close working relationship with the sales team including frequent ride-alongs, conducting training events, and hosting field days/grower meetings
To be successful in this position, your career profile demonstrates:
- Bachelor of Science (or greater) in Agronomy or a closely related discipline
- 5+ years of experience in agriculturally related field research, field sales, market development, and/or research and development
- Ability to be the subject matter expert for your assigned region; leading training and speaking to large audiences
- Knowledgeable about current farming equipment, local cropping systems, technology, and market needs
- Ability to problem-solve and provide data-driven, objective information to internal and/or external audiences
- Ability to communicate clearly in English (oral and written) supported by strong interpersonal and analytical communication skills
- Experience with satellite or drone technology is preferred
