Our expectations:

The Training Coach is accountable for supervising a high performing team of performance instructors who are responsible for the effective Operational training of team members in our Milton Distribution Center. The Training Coach will promote safety, quality and efficiency and Lowe’s purpose, values and culture. The Training Coach oversees the Distribution Center on-the-job Training Program for warehouse team members to support consistent operational training based on Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and to maintain excellent customer service to stores. This person must be able to mentor and build a culture of safety among Team Members to achieve a safe working environment.

Your role:

  • Responsible for all MHE (Material Handling Equipment) training for facility
  • Organize new hire training as well as retraining for existing Team members as needed
  • Organize and maintain MHE trainer certifications for all trainers with external organizations
  • Create SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures) in partnership with Engineering and Operations teams
  • Collaborate with other departments of the DC and leadership team to understand training needs and coordinate all required training for new and existing Team Members to support the achievement of KPls
  • Evaluate existing operational training programs, tools, and materials to determine effectiveness, identify learning gaps, and develop program enhancements
  • Ensure all Performance Instructors (Pl) comprehend and execute safe practices
  • Monitor Pl performance; ensure Pl’s are executing assigned tasks accurately and as scheduled
  • Mentor and build relationships with Pl’s and Team Members
  • Maintain and update existing training programs
  • Ensure training records are appropriately maintained and tracked
  • Conduct shift briefing, including safety topics and upcoming events
  • Communicate effectively with Team Members regarding business objectives or current issues
  • Set Team Members up for success; achieve or exceed key performance indicators, safety, performance and budget targets; record daily performance metrics
  • Promote safety in the work environment; complete safety observations
  • Discuss and resolve issues with Performance Instructors or issues between them
  • Identify and assist in implementing process improvements
  • Respond to incidents or injuries with first aid (as trained)
  • Other duties as assigned

The qualifications we are looking for:

  • 3-5 years previous experience within a leadership or training role
  • Previous power equipment Training experience (e.g.: forklift, reach truck, yard truck)
  • Proven record for complying with safety requirements, and ability to build a culture of safety among subordinates and peers
  • Demonstrated team-building skills
  • Ability to build rapport and trust with others
  • Experience and willingness to mentor and coach others
  • Ability to resolve interpersonal conflicts among team members
  • Priority setting skills to manage multiple tasks and deliver results in a fast-paced and changing environment.
  • Motivated, results-driven individual who demonstrates proactive, creative thinking and acute analytical and sound reasoning skills
  • Approaches change optimistically; adjusts quickly and proficiently to changing work environments
  • Communicates and listens effectively
  • Ability to work independently as well as with a team
  • Familiarity with distribution center operations; previous warehouse experience
  • Experience with software applications such as Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook
