Reporting to the Executive Vice President, Chief Technology and Analytics Officer, the Vice President, Technology Platforms will be simultaneously focused on the present – ensuring a highly performant and available platform for our applications. In addition, the future – the enablement of the modernization of the application ecosystem to the cloud, the stand up and operations of our SRE (Site Reliability Engineering) and cloud operations center and our data and analytics infrastructure.

Accountabilities:

Strategic – Looking to the Future

  • Maintain and evolve our three-year Technology roadmap and capability model, tied to our digital business strategy and annual capital and operational budgeting processes.
  • Drive our Enterprise Architecture practice to set and evolve standards that reflect our current and future needs.
  • Build a strong and integrated partnership with technology partners.
  • The delivery of capabilities to agreed timelines, scope and budget to enable our migration to multiple public clouds, including our DevOps pipeline, cloud modernization program, SRE Operations Center, data and analytics pipelines, integration and platform capabilities.
  • Modernization of the technology infrastructure platforms and operations capabilities to a state where we have no on-premise data centers and a small team handling production with no human intervention.

Tactical – Leading the Day to Day

  • Provide daily Technology Operations monitoring, investigation, and actioning of incidents, problems, service requests and Major Incidents within improving SLAs.
  • Platform Currency: (software and hardware). Strive to be n-1.
  • Ensure Availability of application and services: Strive to guarantee maximum availability and in case of failure recover as fast as possible (goal is MTTR
  • Adhering to our policies and standards: Strive to have no open Audit findings, risks or management action plans (MAPs).
  • Drive the operational cost down: Find any possible improvement to reduce cost.

Leadership

  • Provide leadership to ensure a successful technology team with appropriate skills and capacity required to enable technology strategy.
  • Be a coach, mentor, and role model for members of the Technology and Analytics team to help grow our talent.
  • Demonstrate credibility through powerful strategies.
  • Implement with precision and completeness. Tenaciously anticipate and address questions.
  • Establish staffing/resource plans to meet long-range business needs and responsible over overall organizational effectiveness.
  • Build a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment, communicating vison/values/business strategy and leading succession and development planning for the team.

Vendor Management

  • Work with the Technology and Analytics leadership team to define and mature a sourcing strategy and partnership model for external service providers.
  • Strong management of external vendors and partners.

Financial Management

  • Understand and implement best practices.
  • Implement cost improvement initiatives, and strong governance.
  • Focus on both the short and long-term to ensure the company’s financial success.
  • Strong business case development and benefits tracking strategies, especially for cloud spend.

Role Requirements:

  • A leader in the Technology field.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, data science, business administration or equivalent subject area.
  • Leadership capabilities that cultivate a hard-working operations and delivery team.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills, with a record of accomplishment of professionalism, innovation, integrity and high energy.
  • Highly desired is a candidate who has experience in a sophisticated matrix environment whereby their success was achieved through a combination of and internal team, and outsourced providers.
  • Quantitatively driven, will understand the value of information, and will use this to drive strategy and tactics. They will be a critical individual with a passion for results, and will have the ability to influence and guide the actions of others.
  • Honest and ethical with unquestionable integrity.
  • Inspire change, be confident, resilient and persistent.
  • Persuasively influence diverse audiences. Persist in the face of demanding, skeptical constituents.
